Odro's team have discovered a new bug being released by the Google Chromium team, affecting both Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome browsers from version 106. Unfortunately the bug impacts our ability to record video when flipping or blurring your camera under certain conditions.
To minimise the impact Odro have released an update to Capture to disable both blurring and camera flip when specifically creating a camera only recording for users running Chrome 106 (or greater). Tab and Desktop recordings remain unaffected and continue to support the blurring and camera flipping functionality.
Odro's engineering team are actively working with the Chromium team to diagnose and fix this issue as quickly as possible, however our team are not able to affect Chrome releases, so a release date for the fix remains unknown for now. Our team will continue to publish updates to this article as we get more information on an expected fix.
Chrome version 106 is due to be released September 27th 2022.
Update: 28.09.22
Odro's engineers have been advised by the Chrome team that a fix has now been identified. We are still waiting for a date on when this will be released but we will continue to keep you updated in this article as soon as we have any more information.
Update: 11.10.22
Our Odro engineers have now implemented a fix which to eradicate the issue of being unable to use background blur & camera mirror when using camera only.
Due to this fix some users who are on previous chrome versions between 106.0.5249.21 - 106.0.5249.91 may still encounter some issues when using camera only - background blur & camera mirror. This can simply be resolved by updating your chrome or edge browser.
